No institution is more vital to the health, prosperity, and happiness of our community than our schools. Schools train and inspire our next generation of innovators, business leaders, public servants, educators, problem solvers, and civic leaders. We place a sacred trust in them to shepherd our kids through the key early phases of life and prepare them for success as employees and employers, parents, and citizens in our community and democracy.
Our School Board confronts many complex and challenging issues. Leadership to tackle these challenges requires strong listening and people skills, insight into the daily administration and inner workings of the education system, knowledge of the latest research in education and learning, and a robust understanding of life inside the classroom.
Paul is working to bring his experience in these areas to achieve the following three goals:
Prepare Our Kids to Succeed in Life:
- Grow internships, build job-shadowing programs, and encourage hands-on learning
- Restore balance to our testing systems
- Transition from "one size fits all" curriculum models towards dynamic and student-driven learning
- Continue developing digital resources for homework support and learning beyond the classroom
- Support a full range of post-graduation transitions for students seeking careers outside of the college track
- Tackle bullying in schools, honor our diversity, and encourage pride and ownership in our community
Support and Empower Our Teachers:
- Allow teachers to use their professional skills to educate ALL children and to use assessments that are tailored to encourage growth and accountability
- Provide teachers with a fair and reasonable compensation system
Create a Positive Working Relationship with Family and Local Businesses:
- Collaborate with businesses to open doors for students transitioning into the workforce
- Have a listening ear for parents, and create an exchange of ideas between parents, teachers, administrators, and students across the Valley
- Value and engage the experience and wisdom of our grandparents
- Improve communication of the positive student successes across the Valley and better showcase student achievements
